F.L.A.G. LITTLE LEAGUE

Baseball
Tee Ball (4-6 year olds)
Often, a family’s first introduction to Little League® is in the Tee Ball
program. Tee Ball is the entry level division for players, ages 4-6 at
FLAG Little League. The experience is grounded in fun, fitness, and
fundamentals while also being a key to growing a child’s love for the
game.

The Little League Tee Ball program provides volunteer coaches with
everything they need to create an environment where players will
learn the skills of the game, while having fun and staying active.
Parents and legal guardians of Tee Ball players are crucial to the
extension of the program, and their satisfaction is equally important to
its success. The outreach and inclusion of this division sets the
foundation for continued participation in the local Little League
program.

The Tee Ball Division is co-ed, but may be structured as a baseball or
softball program depending on numbers. FLAG LL has in the past and
plans to have both a baseball Tee Ball and softball Tee Ball program.
This league typically starts after Mother’s Day with a few practices
prior to the start of the season. Games typically start at 6pm at the
Fairview Legion Field 4(unless otherwise noted) and are scheduled
most nights of the week with games scheduled on Saturday mornings
at times as well. The season for this league will end by mid-July. 1-2
games are using scheduled each week.

Tee Ball players use bats and balls (baseballs and softballs)
designated specifically for use in this division…the type of ball used is

referenced as a Star 5 which is softer/safer for children being
introduced to baseball and softball. The roster size for a Tee Ball team
averages 7-10 players.

Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved in this entry level
of Little League. After completing a Little League volunteer application
and passing a required national background check, parents may
become involved in practices, and be eligible as coaches, managers,
umpires, local league board members and other volunteer positions
within the league. No prior coaching experience is needed to become
a coach. FLAG LL is here to help coaches with practice plans and
help guide as needed. Teams are put together after the registration is
closed and a parent/legal guardian is contacted in mid-April.

Coach Pitch (7-8 year olds)
A local league might have its 7-8-year-olds in the Coach Pitch Division
with games being played weeknights at 6pm at Lake Erie Community
Park. These games normally last 4 innings with kids pitching a few
pitches to get introduced to being pitchers and as batters to see
pitches as well using a STAR 5 baseball (soft) before a Coaches pitch
to finish off the at-bat. The season has a few practices prior to the
start of the season and then a 12-game schedule follows. Up to 10
players play on the field and a continuous batting line up is utilized.
This season starts in early May and runs through early July and there
is a district All-Star tournament in late June and players are nominated
by coaches based on season play. Teams are put together after the

registration is closed and a parent/legal guardian is contacted in mid-
April.

Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved in this level of
Little League. After completing a Little League volunteer application

Intermediate (50/70) (12-13 year olds)

The Intermediate (50/70) Baseball Division was re-introduced at FLAG
LL in 2024, which utilizes a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base
paths. Home games are played at Fairview Legion Field 2 and regular
season games are played within the District which means away
games could be played at other LL community fields. 12 regular
season games are played with no playoffs scheduled in this division.
There is also a District All-Star tournament that starts in late June and
a roster is made up by the league coaches based on regular season
play.

The division, which was new division of Little League Baseball in 2013
for players league-age 11-13 with postseason tournament
opportunities, including a World Series, offers a transition for players
between the standard Little League field size (46-foot pitching
distance and 60-foot base paths) and the Junior/Senior field size (60-
foot, 6-inch pitching distance and 90-foot base paths).

Intermediate league follows many of the Junior League rules that
include base runners being permitted to lead off bases, runners may
attempt to steal at any time, and pitchers throwing from the stretch. In
most scenarios this league is a 13-year-old only league but in
situations that a player wants to play at this level at LL age 12 that is
absolutely permitted.

Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved in this division of
Little League. After completing a Little League volunteer application
and passing a required national background check, parents may
become involved in practices, and be eligible as coaches, managers,
umpires, local league board members and other volunteer positions

The Junior League Baseball Division is a program for boys and girls
ages 12-14, using a conventional 90-foot diamond with a pitching

we typically see at FLAG LL only 14-year-olds playing in this league
but this is up to the parent/legal guardian and player signing up as to
what works best for your player. We also do allow 15-year-olds to
sign up but they cannot pitch in this league. Home games are played
at Fairview Legion Field 2 with away games played throughout the
district with a 12-game scheduled from late April through mid-June.
There is also a District All-Star tournament that starts in late June and
a roster is made up by the league coaches based on regular season
play.

division of Little League. After completing a Little League volunteer
application and passing a required national background check,
