Coach Pitch (7-8 year-olds)
A local league might have its 7-8-year-olds in the Coach Pitch Division
with most games being played weeknights at 6pm at Pleasant Ridge
Park . These games normally last 4 innings with kids pitching a few
pitches to get introduced to being pitchers and as batters to see
pitches as well before a Coaches pitch to finish off the at-bat. The
season has a few practices prior to the start of the season and then a
12-game schedule follows. Up to 10 players play on the field and a
continuous batting line up is utilized. This season starts in early May
and runs through early July and there is a district All-Star tournament
in late June, and players are nominated by coaches based on season
play. Teams are put together after the registration is closed and a
parent/legal guardian is contacted in mid-April.
The diamond has 60-foot base paths and a 35-foot pitching distance.
Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved in this teenage
division of Little League. After completing a Little League volunteer
application and passing a required national background check,
parents may become involved in practices, and be eligible as
coaches, managers, umpires, local league board members and
other volunteer positions within the league. No prior coaching
experience is needed to become a coach. FLAG LL is here to help
coaches with practice plans and help guide as needed.
